Residents have been in touch to ask what the roadworks are at the top of Pool Bank and have they been authorised. Set out below are the email responses from the Highways Network Manager:
First Response
HI Cllr Anderson
We know nothing about this and there is no permit in place for the works.
I have taken a drive up and can see that its still in place with no works being undertaken - this has been installed this without permission.
I have asked the team to make contact asap and find out what on earth is going on and to get this removed immediately.
We will also arrange for the appropriated fines to be issued and will be escalating this with the offending company as this is completely unacceptable – especially given the other works that we have in the area at the top of Old Pool Bank.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Second Reply - Update
We have found out that this was installed by Yorkshire Water (sewers) an operative is on the way to clear the site asap.
It would appear that this was a miscommunication with their traffic management company.
However, during our phone call, YW told us that there is a rather serious sewer issue that has been discharging into some private land near the Dyneley Arms. There are mitigations in place at the moment but a permanent repair will need to be undertaken quite soon and will require the same lane closure system that has been on there today.
We have a meeting set up on Monday with YW to work out the best way forward and how that will fit in with other works that we have planned for the area shortly.
I will keep you in the loop.
