There have been a number of rumours going around as to what is going to be happening at Asda in respect of them introducing measures to stop people taking the trollies off site. When people have been going to the store recently there have not been sufficient numbers of trollies available. The definitive comment from Asda is as follows:
“We now have the council approval to install the knee rail and trolley retention system. This won’t be over the next two weeks but is intended to go in this month. I don’t believe this will need planning but now has the necessary landlord approval.”
I am aware that Leeds City Council have been working hard to get the Legal Agreement put in place. I haven’t heard anything back from Planning as to whether or not they agree with Asda’s view that a planning application will not be required.
