Please find below the outcome of speed limit checks on Holt Lane plus commentary from the Senior Highways Engineer.
Highways still have not secured the funding for the Greenway proposal hence in the short term I wanted to make the lane as safe as possible.
"Dear Cllr Anderson,
Thanks for your patience whilst the speed surveys have been returned. I can confirm that I have receipt of these and summarise the results attached.
Judging the speed data shown above, there has been a shift in speeds noted along the lane, with previous mean speeds showing above 30mph and thus sustaining the 40mph currently in-situ.
However, considering the above significant change, I am happy to recommend a reduction in speed limit along the lane to 30mph. I have added this to our “wish list” for the forthcoming year to obtain funding. This remains alongside the longstanding desire to make Holt Lane a greenway, but if we continue to be unable to justify the greenway scheme it may be possible to at least introduce a reduced speed limit (also subject to competition with other schemes for our funding).
Once the wish list has been considered for the forthcoming year, expected early January, I will advise you of any outcomes.
I hope the above is of use to you at this point."
