Further to the previous post, Highways have advised that the A59 has now reopened at Kex Gill, see below:
"North Yorkshire County Council colleagues have confirmed that the A59 at Kex Gill has now fully re-opened to traffic.
I’m sure you will all join me in hoping that the moorlands remain stable until Spring 2026, when the new length of the A59 is due to open."

Please find below information I have just received from the Principal Network Engineer which may be useful to you. Please feel free to pass this on:
"Dear All,
On New Year’s Day there was ground movement in the vicinity of the A59 at Kex Gill which resulted in North Yorkshire County Council closing the road for public safety. Ground movement is above the road resulting in material falling onto the road surface – see attached photo.
NYCC are assessing the situation but initial thoughts are that the closure will need to remain in place for several weeks whilst material is removed and the road is made safe again.
The diversion route utilises the A65, A660 and A658 from Skipton via Otley and Pool, to Harrogate and vice versa. Details can be seen here: https://one.network/?tmi=GB36425526
Network Management will continue to monitor the situation and updates will be provided in due course."
