The latest Ward Crime update is below:
Notes/Trends:
- Burglary Residential (3) – 2 of the offences were on the same night (07/11) in Cookridge, both by attacking locks. One was by snapping a lock, and one was by attacking the lock with a blowtorch. I have attached suitable advice cards for you to share with residents. The third offence was in Holt Park, where a door has been left unlocked but with the chain on. The offender has taken the chain off to gain entry.
- Burglary Business (2) – 1x Theft of copper wiring at a disused business premises. 1x theft of alcohol from within a pub, by distracting staff.
- ASB (4) – This week’s number is inflated, as it includes Bonfire Night, however, it is still massively lower than adjacent wards. I would expect this to continue to fall from next week onwards.
- Theft of Motor Vehicle (1) – A trend cannot be established from this week itself, but when we consider the rest of the six week reporting period, LAND ROVER & RANGER ROVER vehicles appear to be targeted. I have attached three advice cards relating to prevention of theft of vehicles, but importantly, a specific one relating to keyless entry. Please share these with your residents, as a large percentage of vehicles now have keyless entry technology and are at-risk, regardless of brand.
