You may have seen or heard some rumours about the above care home in Bramhope. Set out below, from the Commissioning Manager in Adults & Heath, is the latest position I have been made aware of:
"Dear Councillor
Following the meeting last week with the owner of Ashcroft House, we are now able to advise you that he has decided to close Ashcroft House Care Home. He will not be challenging the CQC notice that he needs to instigate changes in the operation of the home or they will confirm their proposal to legally withdraw his registration. The CQC will continue separately with their legal process but the owner has notified them that he intends to close Ashcroft House with effect from 20 May 2024.
The residents and relatives have been informed of this decision and a meeting was held yesterday at Ashcroft House. Officers from Contracts will be in attendance along with Social Care Managers. We were able to provide advice and assurance around the process to find new placements for the residents. This also included providing support to residents who may be self funders. All the residents have been allocated a social worker who will work with them and their families to find an appropriate new home. Some residents have already had review meetings and secured alternative accommodation.
Following yesterday’s meeting, Contract officers and Social Care Managers will meet at least weekly to ensure that the process to support service users to move to another home and the closure process is progressing smoothly and provide updates on residents who have found new placements.
The care home manager will also be required to complete a weekly check list to indicate the current occupancy status of the home, along with staffing levels to ensure that the home is being safely managed during the closure process.
We will provide a further update when the home closure process has been completed."
