I have received a number of complaints about drivers continuing to park on the double yellow lines outside Tesco on Green Lane, especially at school times. I took this up with the Highways Engineer and the response I have received is below:
"The frustration of the constituent is understood and clearly there is a degree of non-compliance with the existing parking restrictions that needs to be duly tackled. With over 300 education sites across the city, neither the Council nor the Police can contribute guaranteed resource at any particular school at all times, as resources simply do not permit this to be the case. However I will request that enforcement in this area is heightened so to ensure that individuals choosing to ignore these restrictions are liable to receive a penalty charge notice, both during and outside of school times, as I am aware that a proportion of this parking is related solely to Tesco and its customers."
