I recently had a briefing with Highways and Yorkshire Water about some work they are planning to do in the Pool area, in particular on Old Pool Bank (upper and lower) and on the A660. I followed this up with discussions with both of them separately and set out below are the notes they have both provided to me about the proposals.
Originally, I was advised the work could take in excess of 20 weeks. As soon as I get any further information I will put it in the public domain but I thought it was best to pass this on as soon as possible.
The update immediately below is from Yorkshire Water and the one further down is from Leeds City Council Highways.
This will impact a number of roads in the Pool area meaning that other routes will need to be found by vehicle users.
Update from Yorkshire Water:
Thank you for your email.
We’re investing over £500,000 to improve the water quality for our customers on and around Old Pool Bank.
We will be completing work on Old Pool Bank, Leeds Road and Quarry Road to replace approximately 1400 metres of cast iron water main. This will improve water quality in the area as well as increasing pressure.
We will be replacing the iron pipework with an equivalent sized plastic pipe, alongside replacing all fire hydrants, sluice valves and washouts.
As always we will try complete the work as quickly as possible to reduce disruption to our customers but we’re allowing ourselves 20 weeks to ensure we have enough time to complete the work safely.
Update from Leeds City Council Highways:
The provisional dates that we have so far for the water improvement works are:
Lower Old Pool Bank – closed from 10/6/24 – 22/9/24. (Leeds Road to ‘Woodside’/Sandy Lobby)
Upper Old Pool Bank – closed from 29/7/24 – 20/10/24 ( Leeds Road to Quarry Farm Road)
Leeds Road A660 2 way lights from 29/7/24 – 22/9/24 (Old Pool Bank to Quarry Road)
The start and end dates could change very slightly between now and then.
