I have received the information below in respect of a recent speed survey undertaken on Woodhill Road, Cookridge. The summary is attached:
"Dear Cllr Anderson,
Please see below a summary of the speed data most recently collected on Woodhill Road and how this compares to historic surveys undertaken in the same location.
As can be seen from the data above, the volume of traffic has stayed largely the same in the intervening eight year period between first and last surveys. What is notable however is the significant fall in traffic speed along the route, roughly 15% reduction in mean speed and a 12.2% fall in the proportion of traffic travelling above 35mph (the point which a driver would receive a penalty from the Police on a 30mph road).
This lowering in vehicle speed can be largely attributed to changes in driver behaviour over time and is generally a pattern noticeable across the city. Some may be attributed to parking on Woodhill Road, but this was in place in 2015 so its overall impact on the change is likely to be limited.
Based on the data above and the absence of traffic collisions in the intervening period it could be stated that the road is being used in a generally safe manner by drivers and whilst there are certain issues with respect to parking that may require intervention, we propose no further intervention at this time.
I trust this summary is of use to you at this time."
