Please find below the commentary and results of a recent speed survey carried out on Farrar Lane. The survey table is attached separately, below.
In respect of the reference to installation of a Speed Indicator Device I have emailed the Highways officer asking if he would install one of the Speed Indicator Devices previously purchased by Adel & Wharfedale Ward for use in scenarios such as this.
I will keep you advised of progress.
Commentary
"Dear Councillor Anderson,
Please see below a table showing the recent speed survey results for Farrar Lane, with comparative data from 2013 and 2017 to show any trends across time.
From the recent data, we can see that the mean speed falls below the 24mph threshold set by the Association of Chief Police Officers for intervention in a 20mph zone, although there is still a significant proportion of traffic travelling above the posted speed limit. In such locations, a SID may have benefit to the local community.
Comparatively over time, we can see that there has been a significant fall in both the mean speed and the proportion of traffic travelling at higher speeds due to the change in speed limit, the traffic calming introduced and the general trend in drivers to travel more slowly in residential areas. This is positive and hopefully has reduced concerns regarding traffic speeds on Farrar Lane."
