I have been trying to get improved signage throughout the village as some motorists have not been paying attention to the change in speed limits whether it is 20mph, 30mph or 40mph whilst at the same time trying not to destroy the look of the village. A resident suggested “Dragons Teeth” to delineate when motorists are entering a different speed zone. Set out below is a response from Highways (a partial success):
"Dear Cllr Anderson,
Thank you for your email.
The majority of entrances to the lower 20mph speed limits around Bramhope are off the A660 and so we wouldn't apply the 'dragons teeth' road markings in these circumstances. However for those areas on Old Lane and Moor Road where approach speeds may be higher, then we can look to introduce these measures. I will task one of my team with producing technical drawings and issuing this work to a road marking contractor and I will keep you appraised of progress in our regular meetings.
I do not believe that the entrance to the 20mph via Creskeld Lane at its northern end requires such treatment, as speeds here are very low through the narrow bend and drivers have full sight of the 20mph signs in place."
