"Good Morning Councillor,
Following the civils works on Sir George Martin Drive, some road marking works were undertaken including some double yellow lines around the junction with East Moor Lane which have been introduced in error. The restrictions are linked to the planning agreement of the East Moor Lane development and we are looking to undertake the statutory processes to formally introduce these in the New Year. To avoid removing the road markings in the New Year scarring the road surface, to then reintroduce them soon after, it is our intention to leave the restrictions in place on site whilst we undertaken said legal processes. The restrictions do not currently have a legal order behind them and will not be enforced without one."
The Highways Engineer has commented further:
- The speed limit signs have been taken down in error by the contractor who undertook the zebra crossing work, as they were referring to a general arrangement plan, not the contract drawing for sign installations. These signs are due to be re-installed this week, before the contractors close down for the Christmas period. We do intend to adjust the extent of the 20mph speed limit towards East Causeway, but this requires a full legal process which shall be carried out in the new year
- The yellow lines have similarly been laid incorrectly and for the same reason. As detailed in an email to you by Matthew Butcher today, we will leave these in place, but unenforced, until the legal process has been carried out to legally implement and enforce these, to avoid removing the lines and then re-marking them again in a short period, which would be a waste of funds and time.
