I have been approached by a number of residents to ask about the provision of dropped kerbs in the area. I have been chasing an update for several months and have received the response below. If you live in the Cookridge area and would like to give me your thoughts, these would be welcome. You can email me at [email protected]
"Dear Cllr Anderson,
We have been exploring the option of providing a wider scheme to improve accessibility in the area.
Currently, as our depot is unable to deliver small scale interventions, we need to look at providing cost effective schemes to the highways contractor. The issue we are facing here is that historically there has been pushback from local residents when looking to provide accessibility or safety improvements in the area, particularly at the junction of Cookridge Drive and Green Lane where it is most required. Failure to provide improvements at this junction would mean that disabled pedestrians would still be left stranded when we provide isolated dropped kerb improvements, thus invalidating them."
