Please find below an update from the Police:
As promised here is the good-news story I referred to in my crime stats email. I appreciate this would have been good to publicise at the time, but I was waiting to see what the outcome was.
“On 16th January, the Offroad Bikes Team responded to reports of nuisance bikes on the fields off Holtdale Place. The bikes were found by the team at Tinshill Crescent. The rider carried out both breathalyser and drugswipe procedures, failing both. A search also found them to be in possession of both Class A & B drugs.
The rider has received conditional cautions for the possession offences & has been charged with the traffic offences.”

I also want to provide some context in regards to the Offroad bikes team in general. As per my previous email, the team is a shared Leeds-wide resource that patrol based on call demand. They are a small team & as a result, have to choose where to deploy daily. However, his has been raised to the Mayor of West Yorkshire by various persons as to uplifting the Off Road Bike Team and its capabilities. It clearly causes residents a lot of distress. It may be pertinent to raise this independently to your local elected member / MP.
Adel & Wharfedale has received 4 total calls for ASB in January 2025, of which only 2 related to nuisance off-road bikes/E-scooters etc. In the same time-frame, Temple Newsam ward in East Leeds had 10 calls relating to nuisance offroaders/e-bikes alone, out of a total ASB call count of 17.
In summer, their demand rises to 32 out of 58 (August 2024) being related to nuisance bikes, whereas Adel & Wharfedale in the same time period had 8 ASB calls, none of which related to nuisance bikes.
I appreciate this is not your residents’ problem & they will still want to see the team in their area, however, I hope by sharing the above statistics, I can at least show how they are deployed according to demand. The only way we can get the team into the area more is by encouraging residents to report every sighting.
Please push the below reporting methods as much as possible, as these are the most time-efficient ways to report nuisance bikes/E-Scooters:
