Connecting Leeds update
- Reminder: Mass Transit – Have your say on phase one route proposals – The West Yorkshire Combined Authority public consultation into phase one of its proposed mass transit scheme, asking for views on a choice of proposed route options connected St. James’ Hospital with South Leeds and Leeds city centre with Bradford, is still open and will be until 30th September. You can learn more about the proposals and consultation here.
- Plan ahead: Major highways work over the summer holidays – As a reminder, and as mentioned in the last Update, significant disruptive works are being carried out around the Armley Gyratory, Stanningley Bypass (A647), and the Outer Ring Road A6120 Horsforth to Rodley route during the summer holidays. These works are timed to minimise disruption, but road users are being encouraged to plan their journeys in advance.
- Carriageway Resurfacing work – will be starting 12th August, 8pm – 6am Monday to Friday for six weeks. Key routes affected include Hunslet Lane, Hunslet Road, Hunslet Distributor and South Accommodation Road. Full road closures and diversions will be in place during work hours and diversion routes will be signposted.

- An update on how we have spent over £72m improving homes;
- What we are doing to make homes safer;
- The support we have provided to residents to help with the cost of living; and
- How we continue to work with residents to improve services.

Compassionate City Awards 2024
Nominations are now open for this year’s Compassionate City Awards, which recognise the outstanding individuals and organisations who make a difference to their communities by going above and beyond to help make Leeds a special place to live and work. There are nine award categories in all and you can find out more and make a nomination here.
Serious Violence Duty consultation
A consultation has been launched by the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Partnership to understand the views of different communities of the causes of violence and the effect it has on local areas, as well as to capture what people feel should be done locally to prevent and tackle violence. Insights from the consultation will help ensure the needs and voices of the community inform and shape future service delivery. The survey closes on 18th October and can be found here.
