I have received the information below which may be useful to you:
"Dear Councillor,
This is to notify you of tree works being undertaken on Holt Lane on the 7th and 8th December 2023. A road closure will be in place during this time to facilitate the works.
The tree works are to achieve three aims:
- To remove dead and dying ash trees affected by ash dieback disease.
- To cut trees clear of the highway to improve height clearance and visibility along the road.
- Thirdly to flail the walls of scrub vegetation along the lane (mostly the eastern end near the play park) to improve visibility and road width.
The tree works will be undertaken by TreeSaw on behalf of Leeds City Council Forestry Team.
The flail works will be undertaken by inhouse colleagues within Parks.
Regretfully there will be some negative impact on tree cover and amenity along the road in the short term. The loss of trees is highly regrettable but unfortunately some of the ash trees are in poor condition. The lane does not lend itself to replanting options, but I believe there will be some natural regeneration given the adjacent trees on the adjacent golf course and the Holtdales estate. I do want to emphasise that we are only removing and pruning council owned trees."
