I have received the following information about the forthcoming closure of Harewood Bridge:
“PROPOSED HAREWOOD BRIDGE WATERPROOFING
I write to inform you of planned works to Harewood Bridge taking place in summer 2023.
Harewood Bridge is a grade II listed structure which carries Harrogate Road A61, a two-lane single carriageway over the River Wharfe, located halfway between Otley and Wetherby.
The bridge has suffered from problems with the carriageway surfacing recently and these critical works will comprise the installation of a waterproofing system, resurfacing of the carriageway and repairs to the footway.
Because of the narrow width of the road, it will be necessary to fully close the bridge to vehicles and pedestrians for 8 weeks for the works to be completed safely but we will be working to reduce this where practicable.
It is currently estimated the road closure will be in place from early June 2023 (during summer school holidays) and a signed road diversion will be in place during this time. The suitable diversion route will be in place with 8 weeks advance notice.
I apologise in advance for the inconvenience these works may cause, and we will do all possible to minimise the disruption of these works.
We will provide further information closer to the time of the closure but if you require any further information, please contact the Bridges Assessment Team at [email protected].”
